MCCA’s Commitment to Transparency & Oversight

Our Transparency Committment

Transparency is essential to the MCCA's operations. We regularly share our financial status, aggregate claims data and assessment rates to hold ourselves accountable to policymakers, insurers and the public.

All financial statements, actuarial reports and regulatory filings are available to the public. This open approach reflects our commitment to operating as a trusted steward of the catastrophic claims system.

State of Michigan Regulatory Oversight

The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) provides ongoing regulatory supervision of the MCCA's financial condition and compliance with state law.

DIFS conducts comprehensive financial examinations every few years. They review our reserves, investments, business practices and internal controls. These examinations ensure we meet statutory requirements and maintain adequate funding for future claims.

This independent state oversight is crucial for both severely injured individuals who rely on MCCA funding and Michigan policyholders who pay the assessments that support the catastrophic claims system.
